Birthday Cake

This is my wife's birthday cake that I made for her in April. I got the idea on-line and enjoyed making it.

Scene 2, Test 2

I got the particles to show up, but they're still not quite right. Only some of the particles ended showing up in the scene. Also the timing is all off now... :(

Scene 2, Test 1

Well....I thought I had a completed scene, but the particles for the sand didn't show up in the final render. Also, the color and lighting need to be changed. Back to the drawing board....

This is the complete run through, minus the effects: texture, coloring, background, so on and so forth.

Falling Columns Test Continued

Here is the completed scene for the falling columns. I still need to add effects such as, sand spraying up when the object hits the ground and texture on the columns themselves. As for the basic animation sequence this is what it is going to look like.

Falling Columns Test

Two video clips of the columns falling over. The first one looks too uniformed where as the second one has more of an organic look.

Design for Media Spring - problem 2 continued

This is a second attempt of my camera movement test is Maya. I had to reconstruct the ground and it looks better this time around. I also added some moons for environment placement. I am still trying to fix the columns.

Design for Media Spring - problem 2 continued

Camera movement test in Maya.

Design for Media Spring - problem 2

An idea was suggested to maybe have fire flies emerge from the columns and that would explain why the insides of the columns glow. Here is a short clip I attempted with particles just to see what effect I could create.

Design for Media Spring - problem 1

artificial lighting
atmospheric

I greatly enjoy sci-fi films and their fantastic settings. Upon revisiting my falling columns piece, I decided to try and instill the same sort of feeling that I get when viewing such films and their surreal backgrounds. By exploring more with After Effects, I have applied different camera aspects and lighting effects to create a well rounded composition. Looking towards nature, I incorporated the way light and shadow interact into my piece. I decreased the overall amount of chroma and pushed more subdued colors into the background. My intent for doing this is to not only establish a sense of space, but to express the sensation of standing in this fictional landscape design.

Above are two animated clips.
