Design for Media Spring - problem 1

artificial lighting
atmospheric

I greatly enjoy sci-fi films and their fantastic settings. Upon revisiting my falling columns piece, I decided to try and instill the same sort of feeling that I get when viewing such films and their surreal backgrounds. By exploring more with After Effects, I have applied different camera aspects and lighting effects to create a well rounded composition. Looking towards nature, I incorporated the way light and shadow interact into my piece. I decreased the overall amount of chroma and pushed more subdued colors into the background. My intent for doing this is to not only establish a sense of space, but to express the sensation of standing in this fictional landscape design.

Above are two animated clips.

I like the atmosphere fog look. Did you do that in after effects or maya?

The original image I did in Photoshop. I then imported it into After Effects to create and animate the fog. I would like to learn how to do the same effect in Maya, but I am still trying to learn the program. I have only been using Maya for about three weeks now.
